Mr Yiu-Fai Ng, the Acting Programme Director of Social Work and Social Administration Programme, Division of Humanities and Social Sciences, won the “Third Class Award” at the Chinese Association of Social Work Education 2016 Conference cum Seminar on “Quickening the construction social work programme in China”. The conference was held at Nanjing University and began on 31 October and lasted until 2 November.

Mr Ng presented a paper “The Future Direction of School Social Work – Experience gained from Field Practice in Zhuhai” at the Conference. The paper reported the field practice experiences of UIC’s SWSA students in three middle schools and two primary schools in Zhuhai during the past four years, and postulated a model of intervention for social workers in school settings.
The Conference of the Chinese Association of Social Work Education is held annually. It is the highest academic platform of social work education in China. There were 136 papers submitted to the Conference, and 35 got an award – four First Class Award, 15 Second Class Award and 16 Third Class Award.
On the same occasion, UIC was elected as one of the members of the Board of the Chinese Association of Social Education Association, which is a four-year tenure.
