Cinema and Television graduates Zhou Xiaofan and Wannian Junzi were selected as young directors in the China Film Director’s Guild (CFDG) Young Director Support Programme at the Guild’s annual meeting on 10 April. The two were included in the ultimate 30 young directors, chosen from a total of 300 candidates.
The CFDG Young Director Support Programme, chaired by Chinese distinguished director Feng Xiaogang, was held by the Guild and the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.
Zhou Xiaofan
Zhou Xiaofan directed many advertisements, music videos and short films during undergraduate studies at UIC. After graduating in 2011, he worked as a screenwriter and assistant-director in the Beijing branch of a Hong Kong film company. Then he brought out his talent as a film editor and participated in editing the behind-the-scenes documentaries of Chinese movies such as Gone with the Bullets and Guns and Roses.
Wannian Junzi
Wannian Junzi graduated from UIC in 2012. She then worked in a film company as a screenwriter for three years, before signing with an agency as an independent screenwriter. Her script Figting! Bow and Arrow, selected by the Support Programme, was written based on her experience at UIC. At present she is studying how to be a director at the Beijing Film Academy and has finished scripts for two online movies.
