UIC’s Cinema and Television Programme (CTV) became the biggest winner of the “No. 1 Image - the Second Nationwide College Image Competition Sponsored by Canon” this summer.
Of all the 172 films submitted by 44 universities, UIC’s four films captured five awards at the award ceremony on 14 July.

The films were divided into two categories: drama and documentary.
In the drama section, Mr Bozhang Yuan’s The Sand Beneath (沉沙) won a Best Nomination and the Best Cinematography. The story is staged in ancient China when a naive youngster acknowledges a swordsman as his master to learn to survive in the complex world. The disciple follows the swordsman to look for a river running from north to south.
Ms Wenhui Zhang’s drama The Red Love (樱子) also won a Best Nomination.

In addition, Ms Yuchen Yang’s Shaqima (沙其马) was awarded a Best Nomination of documentary. It tells a love story of a Post-90’s mother and a Post-80’s father.
Another Best Nomination went to Ms Chenyun Luo and Ms Qianxin Zhao’s documentary Vortex (漩涡). It creates an image of a mother who fights against all odds for her two sons suffering from incurable diseases.
