Final Year Project Screening of CTV First Graduating Class

On May 9th, the opening ceremony of the Final Year Project Screening of the First Graduating Class of Cinema and Television Programme was held in celebration of UIC's Fifth Anniversary and the Graduating Ceremony 2010. Celebrities from the Hong Kong film industry including Jacky Chan, Luo Qirui, Zhang Wanting and Li Lichi sent congratulatory messages to the CTV graduates through video.  The screening,  sponsored by Media and Public Relations Office, was scheduled from 9th May to 14th May at B102  and B201. 

The light-up of the ceremony was performed by Dean of UIC Division of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Jeff Wilkinson, Coordinator of Cinema and Television Program Dr. Michael Fitzhenry, Associate Professor of CTV Program and Director of Media and Public Relations Office Dominic Man, and Representative of Zhuhai TV station Ms. Zhou Yufei.

The 27 screening projects under genres of drama, documentary or corporate video were highly reflective of the graduates' understandings about modern society and life in a visual, vivid and entertaining way. They covered diversified themes including apperception of human sentiment, spiritual journey, salvation of disappearing traditional culture and humanistic concerns.

The student in charge of the activity said all the CTV graduates had experienced enormous arduousness to make their own films.

Coordinator of Cinema and Television Program Dr. Michael Fitzhenry expressed that, the students shoot their own scripts, directed in their own ways with their own understandings about the society. He was pleased to watch them enhance their cinematic performances in the past four years.

Professional film-maker and instructor of CTV Program Mr. Paul Liu said, "I was impressed by the passionate and studious students especially those who targeted the countryside or the north-west territories for materials searching." He hoped that the students could make great strides in future.

A parent attending the ceremony said, "The students' enthusiasm and determination reminded me of the days when I struggled making my dreams come true. Best wishes to them! "
