Visit to alumnus’ global currency exchange business

On November 10, 2021, Year 3 Globalisation and Development (GAD) students, accompanied by Dr. Sharon Wu Shuang and Ms. Cinnamon Sun Yuan, visited “XCurrency”, a Zhuhai-based, high-tech and high-end service company founded and operated by GIR-GAD alumnus, Bruce Chen Jiaxin. The core activities of XCurrency include worldwide online currency exchange, exchange rate information service, as well as cryptocurrency market monitoring and money laundering control. Currently, XCurrency accounts for about 15% of the global exchange rate information services’ market.

By sharing his successful entrepreneurial experience and insights, Mr. Chen inspired students to make full use of the knowledge they acquire within the GAD Programme, to take advantage of their strategic location at the heart of the vibrant Greater Bay Area, and to proactively keep up with ever-intensifying globalization trends. Students asked questions about a number of topics, ranging from exchange friction to homogenous competition, to information collection, policy interpretation and more. Mr. Chen not only responded to students’ questions with patience and enthusiasm, but also promised internship and employment opportunities to deserving GAD students in the near future.
