According to China Daily, over 770 entries were submitted this year, including English-language and Chinese-language in-depth stories and feature videos, from 54 universities of the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The award presentation ceremony was held in Hong Kong on 9 December 2021. In a pre-recorded video speech, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said she appreciated the efforts that the competition provided students with a “unique platform to communicate and exchange ideas with peers” from the four locations. Chief Secretary for Administration John Lee Ka-chiu officiated at the ceremony.
