“Ōbaku Zen in Japan” Tea Event Organized by CCGC Programme
“Ōbaku Zen in Japan” Tea Event was organized by the CCGC programme on April 07, 2022. During the tea, Dr. Xiaolong (Naga) Diao gave an introduction to the brief history of Ōbaku-shu—a Zen school in Japan. Given the idiosyncrasy and the historical backdrop of the formation of Ōbaku-shu, the Zen School has heavily influenced Japanese cultures even till these days. Following Dr. Diao’s introduction was a discussion session in which faculty members and students exchanged ideas about cultural communications in these historical events.
Faculty members of the programme, including Prof. Tzi-Ki Hon, Andy Shui-Long Fung, Jianing Chen, James Zhixiang Yang, Julie Jingli Lai, Yi Ding, and Yegor Grebnev, attended the event. The event was held during the reading week of the Spring Semester 2021-2022, partly to facilitate exchanges between faculty members and students of the programme in an informal setting. The event was made possible by the generous funding of the “Teaching and Learning” Project of the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences; the funding aims at promoting good teaching and learning practices.
