She was invited to deliver an academic lecture titled "What is Daoism? - On the Distinction between Daoist Philosophy and Daoist Religion". The session was presided over by Professor Wang Xiang, the director of the centre.
Lecture Recap
Dr. Li Jing initiated her lecture by discussing the definitions of "Daoist philosophy" and "Daoist religion", highlighting their varied interpretations across different historical periods and among different groups. She emphasized that the general assumption of "Daoist philosophy" and "Daoist religion" corresponding to the categories of religion and philosophy is debatable. Dr. Li Jing concluded that these terms should be defined contextually, based on the specific content under discussion.
The session sparked considerable interest and curiosity among the students, leading to an engaging Q&A session. In the end, Professor Wang Xiang provided a concise summary of the lecture.
