DLC Teacher and Student Sharing Session

On November 6, 2024, the student sharing and Q&A session was held for all freshmen, which garnered widespread attention and support from faculty and students in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. The event focused on three major topics: Elsewhere publication, teaching practicum, and internships. Participants were free to switch between the three themes and join discussions according to their interests.

The purpose of this event is to invite experienced seniors and juniors to share their personal experiences and
insights they have accumulated during their studies, as well as to answer questions and provide guidance on internships and other related topics. This event also invites teachers from ELLS to join in, further explaining the characteristics and advantages of the three concentrations of ELLS for freshmen who have not yet been assigned to a specific concentration, and helping them find the majors they truly love.

Vice Dean (Teaching) of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor John Corbett, and the Head of the Department of Languages and Cultures, Professor Charles Lowe, as well as several other professors and lecturers from the Department of Languages and Cultures, were invited to attend the event.

The event began with a speech by Professor Charles Lowe, head of the Language and Culture Department in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He fully highlighted the significance of the event and sincerely hoped that all the guests and students present would actively participate and enjoy the event. Other professors from the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature also introduced themselves and expressed their expectations for the event.

During the event, students and teachers actively participated in discussions, raised questions, and shared insights on the three themes of Elsewhere
publication, teaching practicum, and internships.

This event aims to answer the questions that freshmen in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature have in their hearts through the explanations and lectures given by senior students and teachers. It is hoped that this will help them find their future direction and better adapt to university life. In the future, they will definitely become the bright stars of UIC.
