MA in Communication 2018
From being an auditor in the Big Four accounting firm, to a businesswoman and back to a student again; I realized the wonder in life is that it’s always possible to find inner peace in the midst of chaos.
After graduated for eight years, I became a mother who trying to juggle a full-time job with a family role. It took me a ton of courage before I decided to return to school again. This was probably to make up my decision for not pursuing graduate studies despite there were three offers from Canadian universities upon my undergraduate graduation. It has always been a regret for me until I was informed that UIC offers new postgraduate programmes in Accounting and Communication. At first, I wiggled between the two majors for I’m pretty familiar with the former and the latter is something completely new for me. To challenge myself, I finally go for Communication.
Till now, I still believe UIC is the best choice for me for it allows me taking care of my family in the same city while studying full-time. Learning in UIC worth it, not only because I can immerse myself in an English learning environment but also I am able to receive a degree certificate issued by Hong Kong Baptist University. This wonderful learning journey brings me lovely teachers and classmates. We share, we discuss, we learn, and we grow. UIC’s MA in Communication covers both theoretical and practice courses under the guidance of interesting and experienced instructors. Now, I am able to approach advertising, public relations, and media from a new angle. These are all unexpected gains for me.
I got my energy and motivation back during my study in UIC. My experience in UIC reminds me that future is full of possibilities and unknowns. Only if we carry hope and keep going, can we achieve breakthroughs and meet a new self.
