GAD-CBCGDF Sustainability Leadership Platform: GAD students and faculty join the Basel, Rotterdam Stockholm Conventions' COPs 2021


    From July 26-30, GAD faculty Dr. Edoardo Monaco Associate Professor and GAD Programme Director, Ms Helen He Assistant Instructor and student intern Holly, Ms Linda Wang, vice secretary-general, and Ms Syying, international coordinator joined the “Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions' (BRS) Conferences of the Parties (COPs) 2021" as official observers.



    These three conventions promote a coordinated, life-cycle approach to the environmentally sound management (ESM) of chemicals & waste across the world, which is central to the global sustainable development agenda, the North-South debate, and thus for the overall world order in the years to come.


    The week was filled with events, that highlighted the need for action in a number of selected domains (e.g. e-waste, plastics and more) as well as the challenges typical of intergovernmental negotiations. Over a 1000 participants from UN agencies, government ministries, academia and civil society organisations joined the summit.
