The Globalisation and Development (GAD) Major Programme has successfully established a Minor Programme in Globalisation and Sustainable Development (GASD), which would be open to non-GAD students across the college from the academic year 2020-21.
The GASD Minor aims to give UIC students from different backgrounds the opportunity to complement their own majors’ study plans by experiencing the uniquely international and interdisciplinary perspective that the GAD Major typically provides to its own students on the most pressing development and governance challenges of our time, in the crucial domains of society, economy and environment.
Just like the GAD Major, the GASD Minor targets students with a global mindset and a servant leadership drive, who are interested in pursuing further studies and, ultimately, careers in governance of private corporations, international organisations, academic institutions and public management agencies, at home and abroad.
The structure and requirements of the GASD Minor are centered upon the principles of feasibility, interdisciplinarity and flexibility: minor seekers, in fact, can freely choose 5 courses among a total of 13 (11 of which are Major Required courses offered regularly by the GAD Major Programme to its own students over their Year 2-Year 4 study plan, while 2 are Major Required courses offered regularly by the Environmental Science Programme of the Division of Science and Technology).
