On April 1, 2023, Globalisation and Development (GAD) students participated in a one-day field trip to Guangzhou.
Organized by GAD Professor Dr. Shuang Wu and assisted by GAD Assistant Instructor Ms. Mingjiao Xia, the students explored the decarbonization, digitization, and intelligent solutions of Guangzhou as the core city of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The students learned about Guangzhou's urban planning, industrial investment and green development in the field.
A total of 23 students participated in the field trip, where they visited the Guangzhou Planning Museum to learn about Guangzhou's urban history, urban expansion, urban land use evolution, models of city, coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, historical and cultural city construction, and urban spatial planning.
They also visited Baiyun Electric Group, visited the intelligent building power distribution system, big data laboratory and the group's exhibition hall; they learned more about the history of Baiyun Electric Group, its business coverage, industrial upgrading path, innovative development cases, and the focus on green intelligent energy industry in the context of Double Carbon Policy in China.
The assistant general manager of Baiyun Electric Group led the students to visit the introduction of intelligent building power distribution system.
