A field Trip to Shenzhen and Guangzhou was organized to visit Guangdong enterprises and explore the context of global trade investment.

    From April 16 to 17, 2023, students enrolled in the courses "Global Routes of Trade and Investment" participated in a two-day field trip to Shenzhen and Guangzhou.


    Organized by GAD professor, FHSS associate dean Prof. Simon Zhao Xiaobin, assisted by GAD assistant instructor Ms. Helen He Xi and student volunteer Mr. Calvin Zhang Qifan, the field trip led students to visit high-tech innovative enterprises in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and to witness ever-changing dynamics of international society and adjustments of industries in and out of China. By exploring the achievement of forty years of reform and opening-up firsthand, students acquired valuable experience and gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with this era.


    A total of 23 students participated in the field trip. They actively visited companies, museums and had seminar with company executive managers. Through this experience, students gained a deeper understanding of high-tech innovative enterprises in Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and their significance and productivity in the context of China's globalisation.
