On April 13, 2023, the Globalisation and Development (GAD) Programme had the honour of hosting the lecture of Dr. Mike Musgrave from the Conservation Leadership Faculty in the School of Wildlife Conservation at the African Leadership University in Kigali, Rwanda.
Dr. Mike Musgrave graduated from the Rhodes University and University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and holds a Ph.D. in Sustainable Development from the University of St Andrews in Scotland. A recipient of the prestigious Frederick Soddy Award from the Royal Geographic Society, he writes and lectures broadly on African customary law, common-pool resource governance, and nature-based solutions for addressing climate change in Africa. He has developed strategies for some of Africa’s biggest conservation organizations.
The activity is hosted by GAD Associate Professor Dr. Selcuk Colakoglu.
Dr. Musagrave delivered a lecture on Biodiversity and Wildlife Economy in Africa. He discussed how the wildlife economy provides a model for green growth and opportunity, addressing the current environmental and societal problems. The outstanding lecture ended up with a very vibrant discussion session.
Dr. Musgrave's captivating speech sparked curiosity of the teachers and students on site. Dr. Mike Musgrave meticulously answered everyone's questions during the questioning session.
