Dr. Wu Shuang, Assistant Professor at the Globalisation and Development (GAD) Programme, was awarded 2023 National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project Fund for her research about lives, labor processes and spatiotemporal mechanisms of women involved in social reproduction through their participation in platform economy
In recent years, more and more people in China participate in platform economy, and a thorough research concerning the nature of their social reproduction is becoming increasingly important. Dr. Wu’s research, in particular, seeks to contribute by approaching the problematic women participating in platform flexible work from a geographical perspective.
Dr. Wu Shuang delivered a speech at the Commendation Ceremony for FHSS National and Provincial Research Fund Awards. She expressed gratitude to the college, faculty, department, and programme leaders for their strong support and assistance in engaging young scholars in scientific research, and sincerely thanked colleagues and all students in the GAD programme for their participation and inspiration in these research projects.
Dr. Wu Shuang was also awarded the 2023 National Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Fund Youth Project, titled “The Interactive Mechanism between Flexible Employment and Optimal Fertility of Women in the Perspective of Platform Economy”;
2023 Guangdong Philosophy and Social Science Foundation Youth Project, named “The Impact and Mechanism of Mainland-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperative Education on the Integration of Talents in the Greater Bay Area”;
2023 Zhuhai Humanities and Social Sciences Regular Project, called “The Development of Cross Border E-commerce in Latin America through Zhuhai-Macao Cooperation”;
2023 Educational Science Planning Project (Higher Education Special) of Guangdong Province, entitled “The Path and Mechanism of Talent Integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area from the Perspective of Cooperative Education”;
In the future, Dr. Wu Shuang and the GAD teaching team plans to invite students interested in research to join these projects, and to integrate research findings into existing teaching content. The intention behind this and similar activities is to help students delve deeper into public management, public policy, digital society, international cooperation, and regional integration development.
