In Media and Communication Studies, students analyze the interaction among media, culture, and society in history and the contemporary world, and they also participate in media lab courses to produce student newspaper/ website, magazine, and documentary film projects. Upon successful completion of the study plan, MCOM graduates will be empowered to:


  • Interpret the historical and social contexts of the professional practices in one or more of the following media industries: newspaper, magazine, radio, television, documentary film, and digital media.


  • Acquire interdisciplinary perspectives of communication and media studies that enable critical reasoning in analyzing contemporary issues of global media.


  • Produce in-depth news reports and/or analytical essays on an independent topic of social significance by conducting first-hand investigation and research.


Graduates could start their career in various media organizations (such as TV stations, newspapers, magazines, news websites, film & video production), communication or public relation departments of government and private institutions, international NGOs, education, and academia.
