It has been one year since I graduated from UIC, and I am currently an intern at the Marketing Management Department of Times China. During this gap year, I did not stop moving forward, while experiencing unknowns and acquiring knowledge in brand-new environments.
Challenges and anxieties exist for sure, but I do not get lost. “Life is to experience”, this sentence which I learned from a professor five years ago still impresses me a lot.
My undergraduate study of International Journalism provided me comprehensive understanding of professional journalism practice, as well as sharp sensibility to global media dynamics. Meanwhile, I was exposed to the nature of communication and mastered approaches to analyse and evaluate communication phenomena. I believe the experience gained with hands-on media study and practice here is always critical for me to tackle practical problems in both workplace and real life.
Our lives are flooded with all kinds of messages. In the face of noise and interference from the outside, we are able to distinguish and to think, and we have the courage to speak out. This is the valuable asset that makes us as IJ members feel honor and confidence. Hopefully, both you and I can always cherish this precious accomplishment and contribute more positive value to society.
