Before I join International journalism at UIC, I have always been a person without direction or a clear goal. My biggest gain in college is to find the direction that I am willing to struggle for.

During four years of study, the solid, comprehensive theoretical courses have given me chances to see essence through the phenomenon, the high-intensity writing course polished my topic perspective and way of thinking. However, what impressed me most are the practical classes, for example, Reporting lab, where we students would be real reporters, to go to the seafood market to interview fishermen, to go to Macau to cover the food festival and investigate the truth of the endless theft of takeout on campus... Interviewing, writing drafts, and finally layout. Every experience of reporting was like an adventure, exhausted but meaningful. Thanks to these four years of experience, not only gave me a deeper understanding of the journalism and media industry but also gave me a firm enthusiasm.

In the era of national media, the education I received in UIC has prepared me the ability of critical thinking, preventing me from being blinded by the appearance of events or be bounded by the torrent of opinions. In such an era, we need higher quality news content output than before, and we also need truths to be louder than rumors than before.

Thanks to the four years of my study in International journalism, I have gained more knowledge and skills, greater courage, and confidence. Even with a small part, we can still emit our light and heat and add a trace of rational light to this society.
