Studying in International Development at Sciences Po

Intern at Shenzhen Meida Group and China Charity Fair

International journalism was my first choice for programme diversion when I entered UIC. I still remember the excitement and joy when I was admitted into the progamme. After four years, I left with loads of gains and knowledge, but what I learned in international journalism will accompany me for a long time.

During the four-year period, the media study that combines theory and practice has allowed me to master various soft and hard skills. From communication theory, media literacy, to practical journalism, including photography, video editing, web production and special effects production, the different but complementary courses have inspired me to think again and again about the relationship between media theory and practice, and how the two can apply to each other. Most importantly, it enabled me to exercise my critical thinking and to analyze problems from multiple angles.

As a journalism student, the most fulfilling thing for me is the interviews I have done. From classmates, professors, various departments at UIC, to marine conservation specialists, entrepreneurs and singers, some questions and contradictions seemed to gradually become clearer after each interview. Sometimes the improvement and resolution of problems occurred due to the reports I have done, which makes me deeply feel the sense of responsibility and value as a journalist.

Finally, I am very thankful and grateful to all the professors I have met. The close relationship between professors and students not only gives me the opportunity to communicate and share with them in terms of my studies and life, but more importantly, they let me discover my own value, and I firmly believe that this value will have a profound impact on my future path.
