The IJ x MCOM Academic Society (IJ x MCOM AS) is holding a photography competition open to the whole school from September 30 to October 30, 2021. After a one-year gap caused by the pandemic, the abstract concept “Edge” has become the new theme of the competition this year.

“‘Edge’ is an inclusive concept, which gives competitors a great deal of freedom to finish their work,” Mei Danqing, IJ x MCOM Academic Society president, explained. “They can choose plenty of perspectives, from natural scenes to social issues.”

As a traditional IJ x MCOM AS competition, Mei expressed her vision to continue holding the photography competition. “I want to provide an ideal vehicle for photography lovers in our school to show their talent.”

Meanwhile, Su Qingyang, a Y3 student from MCOM who wants to participate in this competition, explained his reasoning: “We are learning Journalism, and this major requires us to find things worthy of attention from subtle edges, so I choose to participate.”

The collection of works has started. Each student who intends to participate can provide up to three photos following the theme and a short description of their work. Participants should send materials to ijcolletion@163.com before October 30. The awarding exhibition will be held on November 17, 2021.
