UIC Students Won Prizes at the 16th National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students

Zhuhai—A group of five junior students from the UIC Department of Communication won the national third prize at the 16th National Advertising Art Design Competition for College Students yesterday.


Their proposal, titled "你画我猜?不如一起嗨" (translating to “Why Guess? Let’s Have Fun Together”), is a campaign plan aimed at encouraging more university students in Zhuhai to use an online graphic design tool. This proposal took their around 2 months to finish.


Liu Yijun, an MCOM student and the group leader said, “I may apply to the Advertising master program next year. This competition gave me a chance to try what I may work for in the future and gain more experience”

Yang Zixin, a PRA student in the group said “The deadline for submitting our entries overlaps with our final exams period. Managing both was an extreme test of our ability to handle pressure.”


“I’m thrilled to see my students win this award. I also appreciate their effort, persistence, and resilience throughout the competition.” Richard Xu, the team adviser, also the Associate Head of the Department, said via WeChat.


Other UIC student groups also won seven provincial awards in this competition, including 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, and 3 third prizes. Those entries included microfilms and advertising copy categories.


The Guangdong division received around 19,000 entries this year, the highest number in its history. From all provincial divisions, about 47,000 entries were submitted to the national division and 7,298 entries received national awards.
