Candidates successfully complete the program will be awarded the Master of Social Work Degree offered by HKBU. The MSW programme is designed for those who have received undergraduate training in social work or social sciences and human services related degree programmes, and for those who wish to advance their knowledge and skills in general, particularly with respect to mental health practice. The programme, with its structure kept intact, has been continuously strengthened with new academic input and ongoing introduction of new courses addressing rising challenges confronted by social work practitioners as well as human services professionals (such as teachers, health care professionals and government officials), such as substance abuse, abusive intimate relations among young people, and domestic violence and tragedies involving people with mental illness. The programme places emphasis on small-class teaching which can facilitate learning in a more comfortable interaction both among students and between students and staff.
The MSW programme aims at developing students’ competence in mental health practice as well as crisis intervention and care for care givers. And it’s unique nature and especially designed for those who are involved in children and youth work, family services, health and mental health social work as well employee services.
