Undergraduate studies at UIC are not just about learning, but to lay foundation for a possibility in academia. Ding Ziyi (Coco) and Yao Chengxi (Chauncey) took the first step on the way of their research life. As year-two PRA students, they published their book review titled “Book Review: Women in PR History by Anastasios Theofilou” on Media International Australia (MIA), an international peer-reviewed and SSCI listed journal founded in 1976, on June 5. They attended Programme Reading Seminars hosted by Mr. Liu Liming, PRA instructor, and presented the book in the semester. Liu suggested them to draft a book review based on their presentation and recommended several journals to Coco and Chauncey including MIA. After sent out their final version with supervision from Dr. Chai Lee LIM, assistant professor from PRA, they received a positive outcome.

Just like what MIA editor referenced their review as a comment: “overall, the book is an admirable volume of highly readable stories on the history of PR”. They also create their own highly readable story in academia.
