On June 5, the Department of Communication (DCom) held an award ceremony to honor the outstanding contributions to the DCom Peer Tutor Program. The ceremony was presided over by the Dean of FHSS, Prof. Tze-ki Hon, and the Head of DCom, Dr. Jesse Owen Hearns-Branaman, who presented the students with certificates of achievement.
Prof. Hon (on the right) and Dr. Jesse (on the left) awarded Deng Kaixin, Xu Jingyi, Miao Chenyu, and Yao Chengxi (from left to right) for their exceptional contributions to the DCom Peer Tutor Program.
The DCom Peer Tutor Program, a new initiative launched this semester, has already shown promising results. Over the past two months, 16 student volunteers from MCOM, PRA, and CCGC have stepped up to serve as peer tutors. The DCom student body has eagerly embraced the program, booking a total of 38 hours of tutoring within the first two months. Two tutors, Yao Chengxi (PRA) and Deng Kaixin (MCOM), have proven particularly popular among their peers, receiving 10 and 7 bookings respectively.
Yao Chenxi, standing in the middle, was the most sought-after tutor this semester.
Deng Kaixin, the second most popular tutor this semester, is pictured in the middle.
The program has been utilized by 26 students seeking to enhance their studies, with 14 from PRA, 10 from MCOM, and 2 from CCGC. These encouraging numbers demonstrate the potential of the DCom Peer Tutor Program in promoting academic excellence and fostering a supportive learning environment. We encourage all DCom students to fully utilize this program and benefit from the collective knowledge of their peers.
As we move forward, we will continually monitor the program's progress and adapt based on student feedback and engagement. We are committed to ensuring that the DCom Peer Tutor Program remains an effective and beneficial resource for all students.
