Teachers and students from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, UIC
Visited the Zhuhai Puji Art Museum
On the afternoon of November 21, 2023, Professor Wang Xiang from the Department of Communication, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Beijing Normal University-Hong Kong Baptist University United International College (UIC) led a group of 23 students, including an exchange student, to visit the Zhuhai Puji Art Museum.
Mr. Dong Li, the head of museum operations, and Mr. Wei Shan, the head of museum education and propaganda, accompanied the teachers and students to visit the exhibition of treasures in the collection of "Buddha's Dharma: Prajna as the Sea."
Through visiting the Buddhist statues, sutra topography, Buddhist instruments, and other exhibits in the exhibition, students learned to understand the integration and development of traditional Chinese culture and art over the past 2,000 years since the introduction of Buddhism to China. Students said they not only learned about the historical process of the Chineseization of Buddhism but also felt the profoundness of Chinese traditional culture.
The programme of Chinese Culture and Global Communication aims to train students to be both locally rooted and globally connected, and the museum is looking forward to more in-depth cooperation with UIC and contributing to cultural communication together. The Zhuhai Puji Art Museum, as a platform for the inheritance and promotion of excellent traditional culture, also welcomes more teachers and students from universities to visit and learn.
