FRENCH AT UIC
CFLC offers French language courses at 4 levels and a French Culture Course.
FRENCH I
This course is intended for complete beginners in French according to the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) Level A1 (Part 1). It aims at developing basic knowledge in the four areas of competence (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and developing students linguistic, communicative and cultural competence in the target language.
FRENCH II
This course is a continuation of French I. It aims at developing the four areas of competence (listening, speaking, reading and writing) according to the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) Level A1 (Part 2) and expanding linguistic, pronunciation and communicative skills. To achieve this, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and sentence structure.
FRENCH III
This course is a continuation of French II. It aims at developing the four areas of competence (listening, speaking, reading and writing) according to the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for languages) Level A2 (Part 1). Students should be able to communicate in French by using precise vocabulary with French native speakers in daily life situations. To achieve this, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and sentence structure.
FRENCH IV
This course is a continuation of French III. It aims at giving students the ability to express themselves in spoken and written French. Students will learn how to deal with everyday situations as we are developing the four areas of competence (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and widening linguistic, pronunciation and communicative skills. To achieve this, students will be exposed to more elaborate features and aspects of the language (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and sentence structure).
FRENCH CULTURE
This course aims to introduce what French Culture is. Its general objective is to use, complement and transform pre-existing knowledge and interest in France students may have into intellectually, socially and professionally relevant skills.
