Minor in Translation and Interpreting


The programme aims to provide students with:

1. Bilingual and bicultural competence through focused and interactive courses in translation and interpreting;

2. Practical, analytical and transferable skills that can be applied to diverse professional contexts such as business, law, media, education, science and technology;

3. An interdisciplinary perspective through the combination of their major areas of study with professional communication across languages and cultures.


Upon completion of the Minor Programme, students should be able to:

PILO1: Communicate and translate effectivelyin Chinese and English and in written and verbal forms;

PILO2: Compare and contrast differences in cultural contexts in order to build a strong sense ofbicultural sensitivity;

PILO3: Develop the necessaryinterpersonal skills and professional competencefor a career in translation and/or interpreting as well as in language and communication fields.
